The 838-SXB Multi-Module, designed by Chris Schneider and Gary Bowser, builds upon the original SXB architecture with expanded capabilities—including full Widget compatibility and support for EPROMs up to 1 megabit (27C080). This upgrade allows a significantly larger software library to reside within a single cartridge. The module is fully compatible with the Widget system.

It supports a range of EPROMs in the U2 socket, including: 27C512, 27C010, 27C020, 27C040, and 27C080.

In addition to the standard TI Extended BASIC, the module includes a suite of enhancements tailored for Extended BASIC programmers. These enhancements feature:

• New commands to streamline program editing
• Modifications to existing commands for improved debugging
• Additional CALL routines
• A built-in disk catalog function that lets users list diskette files without exiting Extended BASIC

Beyond the multi-module functionality, the cartridge can now operate as a device named "CART", compatible with the OPA Micro-Manager. This enables direct loading of EA5 programs stored in the EPROM space.

The module includes a selection of cartridges, with 40- or 80-column display modes depending on the EPROM configuration.

This enhanced version offers significantly more functionality than the original SXB release. All support files for Editor/Assembler and TI-Writer, previously distributed on diskette, are now embedded directly into the EPROM—eliminating the need for separate support disks.
